Arm Balances

-Mindset Matters
The beliefs and stories we tell ourselves can either lift us up or hold us back. Thoughts like "I'm too weak,” “I’m not flexible,” or “I’m going to fall on my face” are common, but they’re just stories, not truths. Shift your mindset to “I am capable,” “Anything is possible,” and “I trust my body.” The first step toward success is believing it’s possible. Let go of limiting beliefs and step into your strength.

-Stack Your Shit
Build a solid foundation by stacking your joints, such as wrists under elbows, elbows under shoulders, hips over shoulders, and so on. This alignment is where balance and lightness begin. When your bones are aligned and doing the structural work, your muscles can support more efficiently. Think of your body like a stack of blocks: when they’re lined up, you create strength, stability, and the freedom to lift off.

-Trust the "Oh Shit" Point
That moment of hesitation, where you feel like you might tip too far, is often the exact place where balance lives. Lean into it with trust and curiosity rather than fear. Growth happens when you flirt with your edge.

-Warm Up with Purpose
Prepare your body with intention. Think about the pose you're working toward and break it down:

What muscles need to be warmed up or activated?

What areas need to be opened or stretched?

What needs to be stabilized or engaged?
A well sequenced warm up helps prevent injury and sets you up for a stronger, more successful expression of the pose.

-Gaze
Your eyes lead the way. Keep your gaze forward, not down, and avoid cranking the chin up, causing stress on your neck. Look where you want to go, and let your focus help guide your balance.
